Cataplana Cooking Class

Cataplana is the name given to a,

made of copper or stainless steel forged lenticular pot, with lid.

 

In this typical pot, which has been used for countless generations by the Portuguese

is used as the number one method of preparation, the food

gentle, cooked together in their own steam.

 

The cataplana can be used to prepare vegetables, fish, seafood and even meat.

Sometimes fresh mussels are combined with pork.

We use the cataplana, as it was in its original form many hundreds of years ago,

was used for the first time.

 

The Atlantic Ocean on our doorstep offers us countless possibilities,

to take advantage of this fantastic cooking pot.

 

Under the direction of Martin Busse, they prepare their personal fish and seafood Cataplana, using fresh products from the Algarve coast, such as mussel, shrimp,

and different fish variants, with a crunchy colorful

assortment of vegetables of the season too.

 

The cataplana is served with a regional salad prepared by you,

with homemade dressing and crispy baked bread on a

handmade garlic essence and fresh Algarve herbs.

 

The cooking class lasts 2 hours, followed by time to eat.

 

Price per person

€55

including course fee and food.

Drinks, dessert and possibly the market and product training,

will be charged separately.

 

You will have the opportunity to participate in a market and product training,

before the cooking class. You will receive a complete training on all fish

and seafood of the Algarve, as well as regional vegetables and fruits,

followed by a Portuguese cheese tasting.

An additional €15 per person will be charged.

 

Our cooking classes take place weekly, from Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
